Ice
Skating in Paris
Description
Starting
December 16th public ice skating rinks "patinoires"
open up in at least two different locations in
Paris. The ice skating is free if you have your own
skates or you can rent skates for 5€.
Ice
Skating at Hotel de Ville
The largest
and most popular skating rink is in front of Paris' Hotel de
Ville. If you're not planning to skate you can stand on
the platforms set-up around the rink where you can enjoy
watching some of Paris' hot shot skaters as they zip in and out between
the wobbly crowds.
Lively and
friendly atmosphere despite the crowds. Children may enjoy a
free ride on the double decker carousel while waiting to skate.
Metro: Lined 1 or 11- Hotel de Ville
Ice
Skating at Montparnasse
Smaller
rink than Hotel de Ville but also not as crowded.
Last year the ice was synthetic
which actually made it a little harder to skate but this did not stop
everybody there from enjoying the atmosphere.
I would
suggest either this rink or the Acqua Blvd rink for smaller
children. Adults and teenagers will have more fun at Hotel de
Ville.
While
you're in this area you might also enjoy either a trip up Tour
Montparnasse or a visit to the Montparnasse
Christmas Market.
Metro: Lines 4, 6, 12, 13 -
Montparnasse
Ice Skating at Aquaboulevard
Very
small private rink right next to the Aquaboulevard Water Park in the
15th arrondissement.
The benefit
of this rink being small and well hidden is that it's also not very
busy.
Metro: Line 8 - Balard
Tram: T2 Aquaboulevard
