Return to Paris Art Exhibitions DescriptionBetween their creation by Serge Diaghilev and the death of their founder, in 1929, the company Ballets Russes "Russian Ballet" performed nineteen seasons in Paris and won almost immediate success. At that time the Russian Ballet contributed to the revewal of classical ballet with choreographers Michel Fokine, Vaslav Nijinsky, Leonide Massine and George Balanchine, and also impacted the change of scenery and stage costume seen in early twentieth century ballets. The Russian Ballet exhibition offers a hundred works of the most important collections of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, plus exceptional pieces from private and institutional loans. Conceived as a retrospective show of the ballet company, the exhibition includes valuable models of sets and costumes.
